Anthony Buckley is on a roll! Here he is with a magnificent salmon of 11lbs, caught whilst spinning. Great sport was experienced as the fish came to the spinner 3 times and sped downriver on an initial 50 yard run. Well done Anthony!!

River Update 11/04/16

2016-04-11

Well what a weekend that was, with rain, hail, sleet and snow falling at different times on Saturday evening and Sunday! The river rose by a few feet but is now dropping again. Before the weather broke, another fish, estimated to weigh 8lb, was caught and released on the fly. Prospects for the week are excellent.

Water Level: 0.86m.
Water Temp: 9.5 degrees Celsius.

First Aid

2016-04-10

Yesterday, we held a First Aid course for our Waterkeepers and Fishing Guides at The Munster Arms hotel.
A huge thanks goes out to club member, John O' Brien who was our instructor for the course. John, who is also a Paramedic really brought home to us, the importance of having basic First Aid. We would encourage anyone and everyone to do the same. You could save a life.

8lb Springer

2016-04-06

More good news as a club member reported catching an 8lb springer yesterday evening on the fly. Water is perfect at the moment, with showers keeping the water at a steady level. Forecast is cold with showers of rain, which may be heavy on Sunday. With the great tides though and fish present, it is well worth a cast. Attached is a photo of a nice brown trout I recently released whilst salmon fishing. Great to see this calibre of trout present.
